A simple, comforting dessert made with crescent rolls, apples, and a sweet cinnamon sauce that bakes to golden perfection.
Ingredients
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and cored
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup water
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Cut each apple into 8 wedges. Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles.
Step 3: Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each dough triangle and roll up, tucking in the sides.
Step 4: Arrange dumplings in the prepared baking dish.
Step 5: In a saucepan, combine sugars, cinnamon, butter, and water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Step 6: Pour sauce evenly over dumplings in the baking dish.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
Step 8: Let cool slightly before serving, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
