Description
A hearty, comforting casserole with savory sausage, flaky biscuits, and creamy gravy, perfect for feeding a crowd.
Ingredients
1 lb bulk breakfast sausage
1 (16.3 oz) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, quartered
3 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and crumbled, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease and set aside.
Step 3: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbly.
Step 4: Gradually whisk in milk, then add garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 5: Remove gravy from heat and stir in cooked sausage and half of the cheddar cheese until combined.
Step 6: Arrange quartered biscuits evenly in the prepared baking dish. Pour sausage gravy mixture over biscuits.
Step 7: Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until biscuits are golden and gravy is bubbly.
Step 8: Let cool for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
